Ship Hit! Let's Play Battle Ship in Math!

Happy 1st Day of October All,

I hope everyone is having a great first day of October even if it is on Monday. My Monday has went wonderful especially since my 8 a.m. parent meeting was cancelled. Who hates Monday morning meetings? This girl! As a special education teacher, I do everything in my power not to have Monday morning meetings unless it is the only time the parents can make it.

"Ship Sunk"
Who remembers loving to hear those words? I do!!! My husband and I actually still play it on the IPhone! Nerds I know!

Well my co-teacher found a great game for practicing graphing skills and verbalizing ordered pairs. I in no part created this wonderful activity but I do want to share it. My students loved it and it was a nice break from the routine homework handouts.

The worksheet we used can be found at this link: Battleship. It says high school level but the actual battleship game can be used with 7th or 8th graders. Our classroom looked like a commander center when the students started playing. See the fun below:

We gave them two sheets. One to plot their battle ships and another to track what coordinates they have already used.

One More Quick Thing!

What do you think? Is this a must buy???

It was only $24.99. It's blue and yellow. It is long enough to wear to school but not sure what leggies I could wear with it in the winter though. Let me know your thoughts.

Have a Terrific Tuesday at School!

Love the battleship idea! I think I could get a more simple graph and it would work pretty good with my students. And I love the dress!!!

Thanks for this battleship idea. I teach Grade 8 Math and I am always looking for new ideas and new people to discuss math with. Email me if you want to swap ideas. I love how the dress has a hint of yellow to break up the strips.
Thanks for your blog.
